Male show of emotion and fear = unconventional. Female show of emotion = unsurprising. Interview with Natalie Dormer talking about strong female characters in 'The Hunger Games'. Summer Project: Proposal

Media text:  'The Hunger Games' franchise (2012-2015) Media issue/debate:  The development of feminism in the 21st century and the reinforcement/subversion of male stereotypes. Link to Media key concepts (MIGRAIN) - at least THREE: Ideology: Men and women are supposed to have certain attributes and these films subvert these ideologies.  Representation: Some characters, both male and female, exhibit behaviour that opposes what is expected of them in society.  Audience: 21st century generation, empowered by strong female characters. Wider context - impact of text/topic on society:  These films successfully show how far society has come in women being represented as strong, leaders, and having their own voice. Linked production: Film opening/print product that has clear representations of strong, powerful female characters.
